Rules and Procedures
- The rules for this couples competition shall be the IAGLCWDC Couples Dance Competition Rules.
- Competitors should check the rules carefully to make sure they enter the correct division.
- Each couple is responsible for being in the staging area and reporting to their couples coordinator ten (10) minutes prior to their scheduled performance time for competition. Couples missing their announced or scheduled time will not be guaranteed an alternate time.
- [NEW FOR 2008] Heats will be evenly divided to allow a maximum of eight (8) couples at a time.
- Couples dancing the same dance but in different divisions may be placed on the floor at the same time.
- [NEW FOR 2008] Selected music will be played for one and one half minutes (90 seconds, instead of 2 minutes as in previous years).
- Single dance and overall placement sheets will be made available to the competitors only, after the Awards presentation. There shall be no critique sheets provided to competitors.
- Attendance at the Competitor's Meeting just prior to competition is vital.
- Required attire shall be in accordance with IAGLCWDC Couples Dance Competition Rules and must be adhered to.
- Leads will be required to wear a three-digit number printed on a half-sheet of paper that is safety-pinned at its four corners to the back of the shirt (or optionally to the seat of the pants). Please plan your costumes accordingly.
- [NEW FOR 2008] All seven dances (two step, waltz, east coast swing, west coast swing, polka, cha cha, and night club) will be offered in the Open Beginner, Open Intermediate, Pro-Am Beginner, and Pro-Am Intermediate division just as they have been offered in the Advanced Divisions in the past. However, only the required dances for those division will be counted toward the overall award for the division. See the official IAGLCWDC rules for a list of the required dances for each division.
- [NEW FOR 2008] The BPM range for East Coast Swing has been increased to 145-160 BPM. The BPM range for West Coast Swing has been decreased to 105-120 BPM.
- [NEW FOR 2008] Extra time is not guaranteed for costume changes.
- [NEW FOR 2008] Pro-Am Division dances will now be judged using the Skating System (as are the Open Divisions) instead of the Medals System (as in the past).

Divisions
Because this is a Championship Competition, all divisions defined in the Rules will be offered.
- All 5 Open Divisions
Novice, Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, Championship- All 3 Pro-Am Divisions
Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced- (NOTE: Rookie/Vet Divisions were removed at the October 2006 Semiannual in Virginia Beach)

Awards
- All competitors shall be recognized at the awards ceremony, however only the awards given shall be announced.
- In the open divisions
- There shall be awards given to the top three (3) couples in each dance.
- There shall be an award given to the overall winner in each division.
- In the Pro-Am divisions
- [NEW FOR 2008] There shall be awards given to the top three (3) Pro-Am competitors in each dance.
- There shall be an award given to the overall winner in each division.

Music
- The 2008 Couples Music List approved by the IAGLCWDC Dance Competitions Committee at the September 2007 Semiannual in Las Vegas shall be used.
- Actual music to be used during the competition (with the exception of the Solo Medley music) will be selected by the judges during the Judges Meeting and announced during the Competitors Meeting prior to competition.
